Welcome

Here to help you have a Birthmoon - similar to a honeymoon and babymoon - full of love, excitement and new beginnings!

Meet your doula

Hi, I'm Thea, a birth and postnatal Doula, proudly supporting families across parts of Hertfordshire, Buckinghamshire, London and further afield virtually.

I am a mum to a wildly independent and energetic toddler, born via IVF. I grew up in London but moved to West Hertfordshire over four years ago and love it!

As your Doula, I’m here to listen without judgment, hold space for your feelings and emotions, provide evidence-based information, and be by your side—offering calm, reassurance and practical care every step of the way.

My approach

My approach is grounded in compassion, respect, and a genuine commitment to honouring your unique needs, values and choices. I believe every woman and birthing person deserves to feel informed, empowered, confident and deeply supported in birthing however way they choose to, whether it’s at home, in a hospital or through an elective c-section.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Doula?

A doula is a trained professional who provides continuous support to families throughout pregnancy, birth and the postnatal period.

By providing a listening ear, evidence-based research, antenatal and postnatal education, support during labour and birth, advocacy, help around the house... all to make sure the new parents are fully supported through this beautiful, intense and wild journey.

Why did you train to be a Doula?

I have been lucky enough to gain work experience as a midwife, shadowing in the community and in hospital. I have had the privilege of being at one home birth, two c-sections and two births on the labour ward. Midwives are incredible! But I wanted to be able to spend more time with the birthing family, build relationships, support them through this life changing moment and be part of their village, which is why I decided to train as a Doula.

Plus, now having had my son, I regret not hiring a Doula myself! I was well informed, attended group antenatal classes and completed a hypnobirthing course. But even then, I would have benefitted from someone in the room to advocate for me pre and during birth, and to have been there by my side post too. I only hope that I'll be able to be that support for someone else now as a Doula.

How can a Doula help during labour?

Doulas offer continuous support, comfort measures, advocacy and guidance to help you have a positive and empowering birth experience.

My role is to protect the birthing environment to promote maximum oxytocin, support the birthing person and birthing partner, and to keep everyone fuelled, hydrated and calm throughout to help you achieve your dream birth.

Do you provide virtual support?

Yes, I offer virtual support options to accommodate your needs and preferences.

Is a Doula a medical professional?

No, while I am not a medical professional and won’t make decisions for you, I will support you in making your own informed choices and I’ll work collaboratively with your birth team to help ensure your preferences are respected and understood.

My goal is to provide you with the guidance and care you need to make informed decisions and feel confident throughout this transformative experience.

Can I pay via a payment plan?

Yes of course, once the deposit is paid, we can set up a monthly payment plan to cover the balance.

Why hire a Doula?

The World Health Organisation recommends that everyone should have continuous support during labour and includes a doula in its Safe Childbirth Checklist.

Studies have shown that doulas can:

  • shorten labours with fewer complications
  • reduce rate of medical interventions during labour
  • increase parental satisfaction with the birth experience
  • increase likelihood of successfully establishing and continuing breastfeeding

Key benefits:

  • Continuous emotional support - being listened to and held
  • Evidence-based information
  • Knowledgeable insight to save you from turning to ‘Dr.Google’
  • Support for partners too
  • Increased confidence and reduced fear
  • Better birth outcomes
  • Postnatal support
  • Feeling understood and seen

You will never be pregnant with this baby again - let’s make it everything you hoped for!
